Shaping Success | The Power of Perception in Changing Lives

Human perception, In terms of bookish language we say perception is the way we think and see this amazing and beautiful world.

Human perception matters and it differs from person to person. We all have different perceptions and it's obviously normal since all five fingers are not same.

Shaping Success | The Power of Perception in Changing Lives

Changing our own perception can help us to see a view of the world that was unknown to us.

You may have observed that there are many people who are too positive in their life and on the other hand there are groups of people who possess toxicity in their life.

So, that simply means if you will change your perception then surely you can change yourself and can bring a positive impact in your life.

    Understanding Human Perception

When we say human perception then we say about our own thoughts, about our thinking and the way we see this world.

So understanding human perception is quite tough since not everyone has the same mentality and thoughts.

Since it's hard to understand human perception, we can figure out human perception by their behaviour.

So let's discuss what are the factors that influence human perception.

    Influences on Perception

    1. Past Experiences

Past experience really matters in shaping our perception, some of our past experience can shape our human perception .

We have seen this in real life as well as in movies where a person's attitude has been changed due to any past traumas and past experience.

One of my past experiences that I would like to share with you all, so what happened is we were on a school trip and we travelled to an old-age home where people from different ages were living there and when I met them I realised that life is not as easy as we think.

Before meeting those old aged people my views were that my life is too hard and i was kind of depressed and i can't fight up against my life challenges but after meeting those people i realised that i am happier than those people.

I have almost every facility that is required to live a happy and fruitful life. So that was an incident that changed my perception.

So there are many cases where perception is influenced by past decisions and past experience.

    2. Cultural and Social Influences

Apart from our past experience our cultural and social influences really matter and that affects how your perception changes.

The values that you get from your parents and grandparents affects your mentality and impacts your perception. The idol you follow impacts your thoughts and that's why it is mentioned that you must choose your mentors and idols wisely.

The values that mentors and idols exhibit are copied by their own followers. We can say that social media influencers and great personalities actually influence our life and shape our perception.

Social influences really matter and you may have observed that you watched a really nice movie and you loved the lead role character of that movie so what happens is you start copying the character of that movie. That happens because you're influenced by the acting of that character.

So it's better to choose your idols and mentors because their thoughts affect our perception.

The Power of Perception in Self-Improvement

    A. Self-Awareness

Our perception plays an important role in self awareness, and it can be both beneficial as well as destructing also.

Let's understand with a common example: suppose you have a perception about yourself that your face is not good and you are not confident, you are not handsome so having this type of perception will lower your self esteem.

As a result you will never come out from the cycle of these thoughts, slowly you will become depressed and will lose your identity. That's really a bad thing.

On the other hand if you will love yourself and your perception about yourself is good and you love as the way you are then surely you will be one of the happiest and successful people in your life.

Since our thoughts attract like minded things, your perception really matters a lot in deciding whether you will be happy or sad.

    B. Mindset Shift

Mindset shift, we can't just ignore the fact that our thoughts decide our mentality, you may have never seen a brave guy talking like cowards.

That's the same thing with our perception, and when we have a good perception regarding our mindset then obviously we have a bonus point.

Unleash your full potential: A complete guide about how you can build and cultivate a growth mindset

If not then no worry, perception can be changed with a little effort but one should keep focus on making oneself better and perception changes automatically.

Important thing that one should keep in mind is changing his thoughts from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset because that's the only way we can build difference in our own perception.

Shift your mindset, open yourself for growth, believe in yourself and your perception should be about how you are gonna make yourself better rather than crying about your current situations.

Each thought that you impart must be about self improvement and growth mindset.

    C. Positive and Negative Aspects

Our own perception decides our own mentality, with our perception we can shape our life we can include positivity and on the flip side we can also include negativity in our life.

Everyone says think positive, but no one says how to think positive? But don't worry we care for you :) Complete guide about how you can eliminate negativity and can think positive. Read now !

So what should you do ?

The answer is just simple, you have to avoid thinking negatively in your life, you have to control your negative thoughts as in almost every article I wrote that even a single piece of negative thought is enough to destroy your positive mindset.

You never know when your negative thoughts get changed into your own perception and once it's done it's really hard to reboot your mind.

So you have to shape your perception very carefully, avoid negative self-talk, stay away from negative and toxic people, keep your eye on positivity and believe in yourself.

If you follow the above things then surely you can build a happy perception.

    D. Coming out from your comfort zone

So if I ask you, how many times you have controlled yourself from getting stuck into your comfort zone.

C'mon I know the answer almost 80-90% of traders can't stop themselves taking unusual rests. That's actually a big problem because getting yourself stuck in a comfort zone and after wasting many hours you realise that you are distracted from your goals and you have just wasted your important time in doing absolutely nothing.

Building a perception that it's your life and you are the sole owner of it, you become more independent and more responsible, so now you will optimise your time. Rather than wasting it on stupid things.

Changing one's perception can truly affect life and can bring a positive change in life.

How to build a good perception?

Building a good perception is not enough, you just need to put your efforts and time into making yourself better. Continuously acquiring knowledge from different sources reading blogs and motivational posts, reading biographies and positive quotes will help you to build a good perception about yourself and about this world.

    Frequently asked questions

Question 1: What are the 4 motivations of human behavior?

Answer: The four motivations of human behavior are often categorized as the following: 1. Biological Motivation: This refers to the basic instincts and drives necessary for survival, such as the need for food, water, and shelter. 2. Emotional Motivation: Emotions play a significant role in shaping behavior. Fear, joy, love, and anger can all motivate certain actions and responses. 3. Social Motivation: Humans are social beings, and the desire for acceptance, belonging, and connection with others influences behavior. 4. Cognitive Motivation: The desire for knowledge, understanding, and intellectual stimulation drives individuals to seek information, solve problems, and engage in learning activities.

Question 2: How does Perception influence behavior?

Answer: Perception is the process through which individuals interpret and make sense of their experiences and the world around them. It greatly influences behavior by shaping how individuals perceive and respond to stimuli.

Perception filters incoming information, and the interpretation of that information guides decision-making, attitude formation, and behavioral responses. Different perceptions can lead to varied behaviors, as individuals may have different interpretations of the same situation.

Question 3: What is human perception?

Answer: Human perception refers to the way individuals interpret and make sense of sensory information from their environment, including sights, sounds, tastes, smells, and touch.

It involves the cognitive processes that occur in the brain to process and interpret sensory inputs, leading to the creation of subjective experiences and understanding of the world.

Question 4: Can motivation be defined as perception?

Answer: While motivation and perception are closely interconnected, they are distinct concepts. Motivation refers to the internal processes that drive individuals to act in certain ways or pursue specific goals.

It involves the activation of goal-oriented behavior and the energy required to sustain it. Perception, on the other hand, is the cognitive process through which individuals interpret sensory information and construct their understanding of the world.

Perception can influence motivation by shaping how individuals perceive and evaluate goals, but it is not synonymous with motivation itself.

Question 5: What are the 3 main influences of perception?

Answer: The three main influences of perception are as follows: 1. Past Experiences: Previous encounters and personal history shape one's perception. Past experiences can create biases, stereotypes, and expectations that influence how individuals interpret and make sense of new information. 2. Cultural and Social Factors: Cultural norms, values, beliefs, and social context heavily impact perception. Society, family, and peers play a crucial role in shaping the lens through which individuals view the world. 3. Cognitive Processes: Individual cognitive processes, such as attention, memory, and interpretation, influence perception. Selective attention and cognitive biases can filter and distort incoming information, affecting the interpretation and understanding of stimuli.
