The differences between motivation and discipline

What if I tell you that you are stuck up in a matrix of motivation and discipline and there is nothing like both of them ?

Yes, you read that right, my friend. As a human being we always have the tendency to you know try to simplify problems and situations and yes there is nothing wrong in it.

We Always try to search for an external push or you know external source to get started in our work. We often tend to listen to other people's advice, opinions and their words.. Obviously this is something that can have a positive and negative impact over our life.

No, I am not gonna discuss people's opinions today. I am gonna share some insights of how motivation shapes our mentality and how motivation differs from discipline and whether you should discipline or motivation and a lot more..

So ya grab your favourite spot because this is gonna be a really interesting discussion.

Motivation and discipline are the two pillars of success and in order to be a successful person in life motivation is necessary but with a mix of discipline too.

Motivation vs discipline psychology

Motivation is the fire or somewhat a spark that forces you to do your work, it's a force that pushes you to cross your limits.

While discipline is somewhat boring, tough but fairly effective than motivation.

Discipline is the ability to have control over yourself, over your thinking and over your work.

It's a skill to focus on most prior things first and not to get distracted easily. Discipline is the quality to  have a simple but a planned life.

What is the difference between discipline and motivation?

The concept of motivation and discipline has always received a lot of lime light in recent years and the reason is that people are changing their lifestyle or maybe they are too confused.

Just like us they are searching various queries to boost their productivity, boost their motivation and discipline.

The main difference between discipline and motivation is that motivation doesn't last long, maybe for a few days, for a week or at most for a month but after that you will be back to your normal form.

On the flip side if you are focusing on discipline then obviously you have to deal with pain, you have to say no to your comforts, you have to sacrifice your comfort and relaxation because you know this is what discipline needs.

The ability to work even when you are tired, the mindset of waking up early in the morning and going to the gym even when your whole body is aching. This is discipline.

When I say discipline needs sacrifice then I don't mean that you should sacrifice everything that makes you relax, obviously man relaxation is important.

If listening to music relaxes you then why would you leave it, if using a smartphone makes you stress free then why would you leave it ? The idea is not to leave everything and start living like a monk; it's like having a specific time table where you are binded by some set of rules and regulations.

A set of rules that binds you to not waste your time and do what's needed. This is what we call a disciplined life.

Now can you have motivation without discipline? Let's answer this question.

Can you have motivation without discipline?

Motivation and discipline are not connected to each other but it's not necessary to have discipline for motivation in life.

Motivation is everywhere you can grab it from anywhere but it doesn't last long after one or two days you will reach back to your ground state.

Motivation is good but not if you want to achieve something higher, something bigger in life.

Just focus on the system, the author says don't focus on your goals, focus on the system.

If you want to build a building then focus on raw materials rather than the building, focus on all assets that you can have.

Motivation is just like a one time lottery either you will get it or lose it, while discipline is a one time investment.

It will give you profits in a long term race. Motivation comes and goes but discipline remains constant.

So why don't you invest in discipline ?

Is self-discipline the same as motivation?

Self discipline and motivation both are different terms and are opposite to each other.

On one hand motivation gives you the spark to achieve your goals while discipline works with building your own system.

Discipline builds a system that's Full of planning and the best efforts you can put into it.

Motivation or discipline ?

In my words if you are trying to build your own career and a highly ambitious person.

You must go with discipline because it is a better option for long term goals.

Invest your time in discipline, focus, hard work and consistency and the returns will be much higher.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between motivation and self-discipline?

I believe that both are equally important in their respective fields. Motivation can be a quick boost when it comes to short term goals like racing or any competition. On the other hand, discipline is a key to big success.

So I would prefer discipline to be more important and advise you to follow the path of discipline if you are targeting a bigger goal in life.

Which is better: discipline or motivation?

Discipline is better in life because it gives you the power to achieve your goals and there is a quote that I would like to share with you all and that is " In life you have to face 2 types of pains either the pain of discipline or the pain of regret".

So ya..choice is yours.

Which comes first, motivation or discipline?

Obviously discipline always comes first and no matter how people over emphasis motivation but the reality is discipline always tops the list.

What is motivation vs discipline debate?

Ahh, this is one of the most overhyped topics or discussions because you know some people believe in motivation while a section of people believe in discipline but in reality both are equally important and as said earlier it depends upon you what your goal or aim is.

Why is discipline greater than motivation?

Discipline is greater than motivation because discipline allows you to work with full focus and sacrificing your comfort zone.

How can I discipline without motivation?

You really don't need motivation to start working on discipline, just start now and set a mindset that you will do everything to accomplish your goals.

Conclusion

Motivation is necessary but not the need for success can be achieved without motivation also.

So why run for something that's not important at all, focus on what 's actually important.

There are many skills and qualities that are far better than typical motivation questions.

Believe in yourself not on luck, work for yourself not for others.

That's all

Good day :)
